Q
MESSAGE TO ALL QUOTARIANS
from
Marie Dobson-Dunlop
CANADA AREA DIRECTOR

Hi All:

This summer has started out hot and hectic and remained so. I want to thank all those who were at convention from Canada for their assistance, both on the Welcome Committee and on the evening of my installation, especially my own club. It was a wonderful evening, full of fun, friendship and music with President Gwenn’s family as our entertainment. To those Quotarians who were not in attendance, I hope all of you will be at my side as I go through these next two years.

My promise to all our Quotarians in Canada is to help our membership double in size. You may ask, “How are we going to do this?” I am in the process of putting together a committee called “Marie’s Mentors”, or “Canada’s M&M’s”. This committee will be comprised of one Quotarian from every club. This person will be encouraging the members of their club to get each member to bring in one new member. This is not a hard task. However, the time frame is short as we want to double our membership by our reporting time in January 2011. This means we need to start now. Don’t wait until your first meeting in September to start to look for a new member. Places to look - your church, someone at your work, a friend, someone from another club you belong to, a neighbour, someone that may work in a bank, or another store in your community, someone who teaches your children or grandchildren, or the secretary of their school.   The possibilities are endless. Starting figures: District 11 - 91, and District 18 - 190.

GO CANADA GO!
GROW CANADA GROW!
OPEN THE DOORS TO QUOTA!

Another committee that I will be working on is the Friendship Club Committee. I will be partnering a club from the west with one or maybe two clubs from the east. I am still working on setting this up, so wait and watch for your Friendship Club. When you are paired, I would like to have communication between the clubs about service projects and fundraising ideas; maybe even a competition about who doubles their membership first.

The third committee is our Website Committee led by Liz Revell in Ottawa. It is important that each club look at their respective club pages on quotacanada.org to make sure that the information on events and service projects is not outdated. Please send your pictures and write-ups to Liz and she will work with you to update your pages. PLEASE don’t just send pictures and expect Liz to do the write-ups! It is time to also have a presence on Facebook. Several of the clubs in our area, our district, other districts and areas and International already have pages. Your coming events and activities can be publicized on your Facebook page so that everyone can learn what each club is doing and what is happening in your community in the name of Quota. It is a perfect way to instantly communicate.

Since Convention, International has been developing a number of excellent new tools to assist clubs in promoting Quota within their community, attracting new members, and planning for participation in the listening tour. Visit quota.org to view and download this material.

Please mark September 16, 17, and 18, 2011 as our Canada Area Meeting, in Toronto and plan to be there. It will be held at Stage West in Mississauga, Ontario. All other pertinent information will come later.
Plans are also underway for the District 18 Conference to be hosted this year by the Huronia Club.  Please note that there has been a change in dates.  They have changed from May 13, 14, 15 to June 10, 11, and 12, 2011.

Yours in Quota,

Marie
